About Me

DevOps leader focused on building calm, reliable engineering teams.

A software engineer since 2010, I've spent the past decade on DevOps, specializing in cloud infrastructure, observability, container orchestration, and reliable production deployments.

Over the past six years, I've grown into technical leadership, empowering engineering teams and creating environments where engineers can excel and confidently leave work at work.

My Philosophies

Technical Leadership

Make on-call not suck.
The quickest way to make someone hate their job is repeatedly interrupting their personal time. If we want teams that perform with excitement, we must make it our mission as leaders to ensure on-call rotations aren't a constant source of dread.

Observability

Measure everything; assume nothing.
Instrument your system to tell a story of the user experience. Know where errors happen, but chiefly how they impact customers.

CI/CD

Friday deploys shouldn't be scary.
The fear of Friday deploys is a leading indicator of unaddressed tech debt. Teams generally fear Friday deploys because their pipelines are slow or there are gaps in observability; often, it's both.

Embrace Boredom

Keep toolsets simple.
Prefer managed solutions that reduce complexity, even if it means giving up customization. Resist the flashy F1 racer when a reliable Civic is all you truly need.
